On June 25, 1913, after five years of planning and development, Lake Junaluska hosted its first events. At the time, Lake Junaluska consisted of Stuart Auditorium, which was an open-air structure with a dirt-covered floor, a man-made lake, and a small number of homes.

North Alabama Conference Lay Leader Steve Lyles has been elected to serve as an officer of the Southeastern Jurisdiction Committee of Coordination and Accountability for the 2013-2016 quadrennium.

SEJ Committee on Episcopacy announces Debra Wallace-Padgett to be Bishop of Birmingham Area

As the Thursday evening session of the 2012 Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference concluded, the SEJ Committee on Episcopacy announced the Episcopal assignments for the Southeastern Jurisdiction for the 2012-16 quadrennium.
The announcement included that Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett will be the new Bishop of the North Alabama Conference.

At the end of August 2012, Bishop William H. Willimon will retire and on September 1, 2012, the North Alabama Conference will receive a new Bishop. Who that new Bishop is will be decided at the 2012 Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference which meets July 18-20 at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
