During his 28 years in ministry in North Alabama, Bob Alford has served diverse pastoral settings include suburban, urban, small town, and rural appointments. These churches ranged from small to large membership charges and Bob says each helped stretch and temper him through the years. This variety experience now helps him lead the diversity of churches in the Cheaha District.
Bob credits his home church in Houston, Alabama, for laying early building blocks of his faith and offering him a rich witness of faith, community, and discovery. He is a graduate of Winston County High School, the University of Alabama – Birmingham, and Emory University. He is a member of the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame and received the school’s outstanding alumni award.
He recently completed work with the Institute for Clergy Excellence (ICE) as facilitator and group leader. He is trained by Bill Easum to do ministry audits \ congregational development and has served in this capacity for churches in the North Alabama Conference.
His wife Angela is originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan and works as an educator. The Alfords have been married for 29 years and are parents of two daughters. Their oldest daughter is married and works as a math\science teacher in Atlanta. Their youngest daughter is a graduate of Emory, majoring in business and philosophy.
