You might think of a District Superintendent as a power broker, a decision maker, or even a wise sort of human resource expert. But DS Mike Stonbraker defines his role as “a pastor’s pastor.” Mike strives to lead by example, his main tools being a strong work ethic and a passion for ministry, focusing on the conference priorities and introducing others to the Kingdom of God.
In addition to leading pastors, Mike enjoys working with and learning from them as well. He feels that he leads some of the best pastors in our annual conference!
After graduating from Dayton High School in Dayton, Pennsylvania, in 1967, Mike spent six years in the US Marine Corps before earning his BS from the University of North Alabama and his DMin from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He was ordained as an Elder in 1992.
Mike spends his spare time reading, hunting, and spending time with his wife Jane. They have five children and 14 grandchildren.
