Retired elder Dr. R. Gordon McKinney died April 14, 2012.
The arrangements are as follows:
- The Service of Celebration for the life of Dr. R. Gordon McKinney will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham.
- Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service of celebration.
- Burial will be in Valhalla Cemetery in Bessemer following the service.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Retired Pastors of the United Methodist Church.
Dr. McKinney was ordained an elder in 1957. During his ministry he served Arnolds Chapel, Fulton Springs, Fultondale, Red Bay, Sheffield Highlands, Dadeville, Centre First, West End, Tuscaloosa District Superintendent, Birmingham West District Superintendent, Bluff Park, Jasper District Superintendent and Camp Sumatanga. He retired in 1996. Post retirement he served Overton Road and Bessemer First UMC.
