On August 9, 2008, retired Bishop Robert Spain (Kentucky and South Carolina) visited with the retired clergy of the Northwest District along with their spouses.

On Thursday evening May 31, the North Alabama Conference will gather at Huffman United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. to observe one of its holiest worship services of the year - the annual Memorial Service during which the Conference remembers those clergy and clergy spouses who have died during the last year. The Chapel of the new United Methodist Center is the place that hosts weekly devotions for Conference staff and visitors; provides a place of prayer for individuals; and becomes a meeting space for conference ministry groups.
