Huffman United Methodist was delighted to support their community children, teachers and administrators with the donation of school supplies and uniforms to two local Birmingham City schools, Going Elementary and Huffman Middle School.

There was wonderful enthusiastic support of this mission project. The passion for this mission project continued on Sunday, August 15 with the children of the church as they sorted the 90 folders, 165 spiral notebooks, 48 pairs of underwear, 160 pairs of socks, 24 scissors, 164 glue sticks, 101 boxes of crayons, 23 packages of markers, 61 packages of paper, 12 calculators, 300 erasers, 6 pencil boxes, 5 rulers, 1, 521 pencils, 700 pens, 50 boxes of Kleenex, 30 boxes of band-aids, 53 bottles of hand sanitizer, 3+ cases of copy paper, 34 belts and 43 shirts/pants/skirts. This was the result of purchases from $807 in monetary donations and school supply donations.

Kathy George, Mission Team Leader, says, ”What a wonderful outpouring of thanks to our LORD!”

“The excitement continued as God’s blessings were delivered to Going Elementary and Huffman Middle School. Everyone at both schools was totally overwhelmed and so very thankful for the generosity that was poured out on them,” she adds.

The mission team has asked the congregation to continue to focus on ‘Sitting at the feet of Jesus’ during September and listen for Him and let the team know how He pulls on your heart.
