Thanks Be to God!
Highlands UMC's Homecoming was truly a wonderful day. Around 150 friends and church members attended. One special guest was charter member Jewell Long Wonders. Former pastor Rev. Rod Morgan preached, and brought Andrea and Corey along. Several more former pastors were there with family members, including Bill and Sue Saxon, Ira and Nedra Laney with Jessica, Sudie and family, Marjorie Palmer, Donna Risberg Johnson, and many members, friends and visitors.
It was a great day of worship, fellowship, and renewing old friendships. Grateful hearts abound for all who planned and prepared for the day, for the preaching, the good food and great friends, for the great music from Philip Williams and the choir, especially Amy Womack and Eddie Johnson.
Many hugs, laughter, and a few tears finished off the day. As a former youth member summed up, "The people in this church are the ones who taught me about Jesus, who taught me about friendship and about music, and who loved me even when I was unlovable. This building and these people are what I think of when I hear the song 'The House that Built Me'."
The Lord Bless You and Keep You!
