Every Monday at noon, Trinity United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa hosts guest speakers for its fall Faith & Football Luncheon Series. Each hour-long discussion explores the relationship between our faith and our community’s love for Alabama football. The series is lead by Rev. Kelvin Croom, a former UA football player, and Rev. Penny Ford, senior pastor of Trinity UMC. Community members are invited to bring a brown bag lunch and join church members for an uplifting hour and lively discussion.

The program kicked off Sept. 10 with Dr. Gary White, followed by Jack Rutledge and Bobby Humphrey. On September 16, during the Sunday morning worship service, current UA football player and All American/ Outland Trophy Winner Barrett Jones delivered the message. Already this fall, attendees have also heard from Martin Houston, Charlie McKinney, and Tommy Ford. Upcoming schedule is listed below, and all are welcome to attend.

  • Lamonde Russell – Oct. 15th
  • Bill McDonald – Oct. 22nd
  • Announcement coming soon – Oct. 29th
  • Keith Pugh – Nov. 5th
  • Alan Gray – Nov. 12th

In addition to the weekly luncheon, Trinity offers a program on Wednesday evenings using Chad Gibb’s book God and Football as a springboard for discussion around issues of faith.
