Worship Without Walls tradition continues at Pell City First UMC
Pell City First United Methodist held its third “Worship Without Walls” event September 30 as the culminating event for its annual "In His Steps" stewardship campaign. Members gathered at 10:30 to pray, lay offerings and pledges at the foot of the cross, and
commission the workers to scatter throughout the community with their gifts and service.
Twelve different missions projects were planned, allowing members to choose the project closest to their hearts. These projects included:
- distributing cookies
- creating "soothies" for school children
- planting trees
- underpinning a front porch
- painting at the St. Clair County Boy’s Ranch
- demolishing a ceiling at Camp Sumatanga
- cleaning local yards
- visiting with homebound and shut-in friends
- constructing a sandbox for the YWCA
- beautifying Eden Elementary School
- clean the home of a blind gentleman
- distributing snacks and water to all the mission sites.
The mission projects involved every generation of the church, demonstrating the power and grace that comes when the Church commits itself to active worship and service that shares grace and hospitality to strangers and neighbors.
In total, 142 members served in missions to benefit more than 1164 members of our local community and region. What a blessing to see the reign of God so vibrantly in Pell City!
