Ethnic Local Church Grant deadline is October 1

9/18/2012

Each year North Alabama Conference congregations have two opportunities to apply for grant monies from the Conference to help them strengthen programming and outreach ministries to ethnic minorities.

The next deadline for the Ethnic Local Church Grant applications is October 1.

The Ethnic Local Church Grants are awarded by the Ethnic Local Church Concerns (ELCC) Team of the North Alabama Conference. This is a ministry team of the Office of Connectional Ministries, responsible for stimulating and supporting ethnic congregations and their leaders in their efforts to provide ministry to the people of North Alabama to grow more disciples of Jesus Christ by taking risks and changing lives.

The ELCC Team places a high emphasis on programs which develop and  strengthen the Ethnic Local Church.   Hence, the Team also places its highest  priority on requests for funds for programming and outreach ministries.  In  no instance will a grant be awarded for building projects or salaries.

Through the Ethnic Local Church Grants lay and clergy in Black, Asian, Hispanic  and Native American congregations can receive valuable consultation, assistance, and resources to assist them to witness and be in mission.  White churches can receive valuable assistance as they seek to develop strategies for their involvement in strengthening ethnic ministries.
