Lakeview UMC gathers for joyful worship in new facility

7/17/2012

Almost fifteen months after their church building was destroyed by a tornado, Lakeview UMC in Athens gathered for a joyful time of worship in their new facility on Sunday morning, July 15, 2012.

Lakeview UMC was one of approximately two dozen churches throughout North Alabama that was damaged or destroyed by the April 27, 2011, tornadoes.

During the time since the storms, the Lakeview congregation has traveled a long and difficult road, but this Sunday was filled with worship, song and praise for God allowing them to return to their original sight. Worshippers filled the new facility as Pastor Dr. Wylheme Ragland led the worship and praise.

Superintendent of the Northwest District Rev. Mike Stonbraker said, “It was an awesome time of praise and worship. It was great seeing the smiles on the faces of the wonderful people of Lakeview.”

An Open House at the church is being planned. More details will be available later.

I've been driving by occasionally and watching their progress. God has blessed them with a beautiful building. I think they will enjoy this one for a long time to come. Praise the Lord. God Bless each one of you. I Love y'all.
