Rev. Arthur Harrison has been endorsed by the United Methodist Endorsing Agency to serve as a U.S. Army Reserve Chaplain.  Endorsement is recognition that Arthur has met the requirements and completed the process to serve in extension ministry in addition to his appointment in the North Alabama Conference.

Arthur was commissioned as Provisional Elders at the 2012 North Alabama Annual Conference and is currently appointed as the associate pastor at Pell City First UMC in the Cheaha District.  He recently graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. and has served the past three years in the Army Reserve as a Chaplain Candidate in the 450 Civil Affairs Battalion located in Riverdale, MD.

The United Methodist Endorsing Agency (UMEA) has responsibility for recruitment, endorsement, and support of clergy in extension ministries beyond the local church, including chaplains in hospitals, prisons, military service, and pastoral counselors. UMEA endorses approximately 170 chaplains and pastoral counselors each year in more than sixteen different civilian settings and in all areas of the military.

Congratulations Arthur! Some of the most meaningful ministry of my life was done as chaplain serving the Air National Guard. I retired after 28 years last September, and have missed seeing and sharing with my military "congregation".
