The 2012 General Conference will be made up of 988 delegates from around the world. General Conference meets every four years and is the only entity that speaks for The United Methodist Church. During the 10 days meeting, delegates will set policy and direction from the church and handle other business.
Babies First Benefit Luncheon - March 31, 2012
On Saturday, March 31, 2012, the North Alabama Conference Cabinet Spouses hosted a benefit luncheon at the United Methodist Children’s Home Birmingham Babies First. Guests were able to tour the facility and meet the staff and the resident mothers and babies. Knowing how important reading is to the development of young minds, the guests came bearing gifts of all the best books for toddlers.
Storms - January 23, 2012
In the early hours of Monday, January 23, 2012, an EF-3 tornado touched down in Jefferson County, Alabama. There were approximately 500 homes damaged or destroyed, two people died and many others were injured. The North Alabama Conference Disaster Response Team immediately began and continues to organize the United Methodist disaster response efforts to this storm.
Disaster Recovery: A&M UMC - Christian Service Mission
A&M UMC college ministries from College Station, TX served in Pratt City cleaning up debris and helping to organize disaster supplies at the Christian Service Mission in Birmingham, AL.
Disaster Recovery: High Point University - Guin, AL
High Point University took their fall break to work in Guin, Alabama with a family restoring a home to replace the home they lost to storm damage in April 2011.

Camp Noah
Camp Noah is a day camp for children who have survived a disaster. The camp provides an opportunity to work through grief through art and play, in order to proceed to recovery. Camps were held July 18-22 in both the Mountain Lakes and Southwest Districts.
Babies First Benefit Luncheon - April 16, 2011
The 2011 Clergy Spouses Babies First Benefit Luncheon was Saturday, April 16 in Florence at the Brandon Ministry Center. The event raised $2680 for Babies First Ministry in Birmingham. Babies First is a ministry of the United Methodist Children’s Home.
