DR. ANTHONY POWELL

Convener of North Alabama Conference SBC21

Dr. Powell is the son of the late Mr. Wayman Powell, Jr. and Mrs. Wilma Crews Powell. He is a member of Enon United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Powell is a Lay Speaker and has served as Director of Music at Enon for the past ten years.  He is a retired Educator from the Birmingham City School System and Birmingham Catholic Diocese School Systems. He is married to Alma B. Powell. They have three sons, one daughter, three grandsons and one granddaughter. 

 

 

REV. DR. JOSEPH W. DANIELS, JR.

Rev. Dr. Joseph W. Daniels, Jr. Senior Pastor of Emory United Methodist Church has served in this capacity for the past 15 years. During his leadership at Emory, the church has been awarded the "Kim Jefferson Northeast Jurisdictional Award" for effective urban ministry representing the United Methodist Church and has been selected as one of the 25 initiative churches in the "Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century" effort of the United Methodist Church. In addition, the Emory congregation has grown from an average of 70 people in weekly worship attendance to more than 300 every Sunday.

 


REVEREND TELLEY LYNNETTE GADSON

Reverend Telley Lynnette Gadson, the only daughter of the Honorable Herbert Gadson and "Missionary" Linda Dingle Gadson, was born on February 28, 1974. Pastor T (as she is affectionately known) is a member of numerous church-related, community, academic, and national organizations; including the African American Clergywomen's Caucus of the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, the NAACP, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

 


REVEREND RUDY RASMUS

Rudy Rasmus is an emergent messenger, an urban prophet, and global humanitarian with a passion for outreach to our world’s poorest citizens. Pastor Rudy co-pastors the St. John’s United Methodist Church located in Downtown Houston with his wife Juanita.

 

 


REV. DALE COHEN

Rev. Dale Cohen is the Director of Connectional Ministries for the North Alabama Conference. He is a great researcher, a church planter and visionary leader with the ability to read widely, wisely, and well. 

 

 


REV. TYRONE D. GORDON

From September 1988 to June 2002, Pastor Gordon Senior Pastor of Saint Mark United Methodist Church, Wichita, Kansas. St. Mark grew from 350 members in 1988 to over 2,500 members. Saint Mark was considered to be one of the fastest growing African American congregations in the United Methodist Church. Saint Mark is also one of the most racially diverse congregations in the Kansas West Conference. In July 2002, Pastor Gordon was appointed to St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas. St. Luke’s current membership is 5000. 

 

  


REV. BRUCE WILLIAMS

Event Worship Leader, Rev. Williams is a native of Wedowee, has served the Lord in a pastoral role for 24 years. He currently pastors Enon United Methodist Church in Birmingham, where he has served for ten years. He has been married to the former Jacky Foster for 25 years. They have four children, Britney and Briana, who attend Birmingham-Southern College, Minor High School student Bruce Jr. and Jasmine, who attends Bottenfield Middle School. They also have a granddaughter, Destiny.
