Academy for Student Ministry

Looking for quality training in youth ministry close to home? Wondering what other youth leaders are doing that works? The Academy for Student Ministry is designed to give you the tools you need for life-changing, sustainable youth minitry AND provide you with a network of youth leaders for support and creative idea sharing. Using the strongest leadership in the area, including college professors, nationally-known speakers, clergy and local youth veterans, participants will receive training needed for effective youth ministry in their local church. The first session of ASM begins September 12, so register today. For more information about ASM, visit www.sumatanga.org, or contact Chrystal Smith at (256)538-9860, ext 1302.

Join us on Wednesdays at 10am for Skype Prayer Meetings. All youth leaders are encouraged to join. Call (not video call) into clay.farrington on Skype!

MYF Cribs

Hey Youth Leaders! Want to see how other churches host their youth and talk about your ministries? We're hosting the first MYF Cribs on September 18 in Huntsville. Meet at Trinity UMC - Huntsville at 9:30am. Attendees will fellowship over lunch (dutch treat) and head over to Cove Church for the afternoon. Don't miss out on this great networking and fellowhipping opportunity!

Encounter 2013 Winter Retreat

Begin making your plans now to join us for Encounter on February 22-24, 2013 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! Our speaker this year is Duffy Robbins, and Ben Nelson will be leading worship. Battle of the Band 2012 winners Asbury UMC Birmingham's Praise Band will lead a session as well. Breakout groups, mountain air and Gatlinburg's many tourist opportunities make this a can't-miss event! For more information, check out northalabamaumc.org/youth.

Curriculum & Resources for Youth Ministry

We're in the beginning stages of creating an online resource directory for our youth leaders (both paid and volunteer). We'll be featuring curriculum for Bible Studies, youth games, youth retreat travel ideas and more! Do you have an amazing resource that you frequent or share with colleagues? Have you written curriculum that was effective and can be shared with other youth leaders? Do you have a favorite game that you and your youth love to play? Email your submissions to Emily Nelms Chastain at echastain@northalabamaumc.org. Bible study curriculum will undergo a review by a currculum board, which is in the process of establishment.

District Events

Is your district holding a youth event? Let us know so that we can include it in our newsletters and on our website! Email Emily Nelms Chastain with your information at echastain@northalabamaumc.org.
