The North Alabama Conference Care Teams will have as their purpose:
• To be designated listeners for Early Response Teams
• Have neighborhood walk-through “Information and Referral” teams
• Provide emotional support at churches that serve as Points of Distribution
• Provide information to congregations and clergy
• Be overall “thought leaders” for the Conference spiritual and emotional care response

This introductory training qualifies participants to apply for credentialing as members of the North Alabama United Methodist Conference Disaster Response Care Team. Training focuses on the spiritual and emotional care needs of individuals, communities and congregations following disaster, responses to those needs, strategies for disaster responders’ self care and training on how Care Teams fit into the overall disaster response structure. Care Team members will also be asked to complete Conference Safe Sanctuaries requirements, training in an offered Psychological First Aide course, and Early Response Team training.
Cost: No cost. Lunch is provided. Training materials and background checks are also provided.
