Bishop Willimon Commended for Exceptional Leadership in North Alabama

As the Conference began to close, Rev. Dale Cohen asked for a moment of personal privilege to speak words of thanks to Bishop Willimon for his eight years of leadership in North Alabama. The delegates to Annual Conference stood and applauded at the conclusion of the statement of gratitude.

On Friday the Committee on Superintendency thanked Bishop William and Mrs. Patsy Willimon for their service to the North Alabama Conference. Read more on Conference 

DS Stryker appreciates Bishop Willimon's focus on growth; Growth in average attendance and professions of faith. Thanks to Bishop Willimon for guiding us these eight years. 

 


Thanks to Mike Densmore

On May 20th, the Southeast District gathered for the yearly District Conference. During the meeting, District Superintendent Stryker thanked Reverend Mike Densmore for his hard work and support of the last four years. He praised Rev. Desmore as he presented a gift from the District.

Rev. Densmore is moving out of the Southeast District to become Executive Pastor at Alabaster First UMC. While serving as Assistant to the DS, he also served as pastor of Duncan Memorial and Sunny Level United Methodist Churches.

 


New Assistant to the District Superintendent for Southeast District

The Southeast District announces a new Assistant to the District Superintendent. The Reverend David Carboni becomes the new assistant to District Superintendent Stryker. Rev. Carboni will continue in his role as pastor of Red Ridge UMC.

Rev. Al Smith Receives the 2012 Denman Evangelism Award

The Southeast District congratulates the Reverend Albert Smith for the recognition received at Annual Conference as the recipient of the 2012 Harry Denman Evangelism Clergy Award. Rev. Robert Sparkman presented the award. -READ MORE-

 


Churches and Pastors Commended for Growth

Churches of the Southeast District met for the yearly District and Pre-Conference meeting on May 20th. At the District conference, the Southeast District recognized nine churches for exemplary faithfulness to Christ resulting in an increase in average attendance and profession of faith over 2010 and for 100% Apportionment in 2011. -READ MORE-

 


Flint Hill UMC Rededicates and Renames Fellowship Hall

The current structure of Flint Hill UMC in Alex City was built after a fire destroyed the prior building in the late 1940s.

...On Sunday May 20, 2012, the church held the worship service in the new room and 145 individuals participated. Pastor Dee Dowdy preached a message concerning the importance of being active in a church family. -READ MORE-

 


Rives, Connerly & Others Commissioned at Annual Conference

Belinda Rives and Ian Conerly were among provisional elders commissioned at Annual Conference by Bishop William H. Willimon. Rev. Rives is pastor of Bradford and Bethany United Methodist Churches. Rev. Conerly is pastor of Fairfax United Methodist Church. Both of these pastors are serving in the Southeast District. -MORE-
