Through research and prayer, the North Alabama Conference New Church Team and Cabinet discerned the need for a new United Methodist congregation in Tuscaloosa. As they were beginning to organize for the endeavor in the spring of 2011, the April 27 tornadoes hit. Following the tornadoes and all their destruction, it became apparent that the new church would need to address both the growing population as well as the rebuilding and restoration efforts of the community. In June...

Tommy Quinn is not your typical college student. He is attending classes to become a piano tuner, a career so specialized, you find few around. Quinn is also a self-taught organ player. A few days before April 27, 2011, Quinn had been filming many of his surroundings, including his family home, a home which would be lost on April 27 to an EF-5 tornado which devastated the town of Hackleburg. Only six days later, Tommy returned to his music classes at Northwest Shoals...

Now she will be remembered in perpetuity at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology for her mentorship of women, thanks to a gift from her husband of 41 years, Lee Herring. He has created the Rebecca Redd Herring...

The congregation of Snead First United Methodist Church has created a beautiful and inspirational prayer garden in the hope that all people will feel welcome to make use of its beauty as a place of peace and solitude. According to church member Becky Whitley, the inspiration for the garden comes from scripture, and many of the elements in the garden are based on references to numbers found in scripture. "Our prayer garden itself represents Gethsemane, where Jesus went to pray,"...
At Cedar Hill United Methodist Church, we began this year in agreement that we needed to have a more visible presence in the Leesburg community. Our Evangelism Team met and devised a strategy to host four large community activities, the first of which was a "Community Wide Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt" in the local park. In an attempt to attract and serve those within the community who were nominally religious or not religious at all, we designed and sent flyers through the mail...

In a one day training event designed for Pastors, Small Group Leaders, and NCD Coaches
Christian Schwarz, founder and president of the Institute for Natural Church Development (NCD International), will introduce you to the dynamic content of TWO NEW books: The 3 Colors of Leadership and The 3 Colors of Community.
Every church could benefit from more and better leaders. Christian will introduce you to fresh concepts about leading and empowering others in The 3 Colors of Leadership. You will also discover your personal results from the Empowerment Test.
In The 3 Colors of Community you will be introduced to the seven communal qualities of healthy groups. You will be challenged with creative teaching about the Seven Deadly Sins and understanding the energy behind them. We can respond by living in denial or compromise which both lead to frustration and defeat. However, a better option is we could learn how to transform this energy to experience God's best in our lives and in our small groups! You will discover your personal energy level and contribution to community.
You will not leave this seminar the same as you arrived!
Maximum Attendants Allowed: 125
