The first home completed by Hope Builders (the Southwest District Recovery Team) will have a dedication this Saturday, April 7, at 3 pm. The home of Ms. Mack is located at 122 Juanita Dr, Tuscaloosa (Alberta City). Please join Rev. Rock Stone and the Hope Builders in Tuscaloosa as they celebrate the first of many rebuilt homes!
The Disaster Recovery Team is need of local in-conference teams (in addition to out-of-conference teams already registered) to work one or more days in several disaster recovery areas. Local teams may assist for a day at a time, or traveling teams may assist for more than one day. Specific tasks for your team might include framing, blacking in, sheetrock, siding, flooring or painting. We are also looking for a few local volunteers that are good with a video camera and would be willing to help get video coverage for an upcoming project. We have several areas that are in need of household items to replace those that were lost, as their rebuilt home is nearing completion. Items include: bedding (new or gently used), towels (new or gently used), furniture and some appliances. Two dropoff locations are available: Disaster Warehouse in Decatur and the Joint Field Office in Hackleburg (at the Indies Building).
We recently purchased four FEMA trailers to convert into Shower Trailers to be used around the Conference for Disaster Recovery. Two of them have been completed. We are seeking 2 other willing churches or partnerships to complete the other two. Check out how Tuscumbia FUMC completed their Shower Trailer project.
