Roanoke First - A Wonderful Advent and Christmas! First United Methodist Church in Roanoke celebrated a holy and meaningful Advent and Christmas season. On Christmas Eve we celebrated a liturgical service of Holy Communion and Candlelight. The sanctuary was filled to capacity with regular attendees and many visitors. The photos are of Laura Schellinger, and her little brother, Cole, as they prepared to raise their candles in honor of Jesus, the Light of the World. On Christmas Day, we had an informal Sunday worship service of song, Word, and altar prayer time. On New Year's Day we celebrated the Epiphany of our Lord. On Sunday, January 8, we will remember and reaffirm the vows taken at our baptism in a Service of Baptismal Remembrance.

Fayetteville UMC News Fayetteville United Methodist Church was very busy during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We keep a food pantry stocked to help people in our church and community. The week before Christmas we had a Christmas Play and singing followed by a pot luck dinner and wonderful fellowship. We collected money and bought clothes and essentials for several needy families. Our UMW helped some families also. The community is invited to Revival scheduled for February 4th thru 8th at 6:00 p.m. Bro. Paul Vick will be preaching our revival. |

Kellyton Chapel’s 2011 Vacation Bible School was centered around the theme “The Shake It Up Café”. More than 50 people attended the multigenerational event held on June 24 and 25. People ages 1 to 90 enjoyed the singing, dancing, arts and crafts, and of course, the food. The Fellowship Hall was fully decorated to resemble a Café. The decorators used some vintage items borrowed from family and friends.... A good time was had by all and we all received a blessing from being a part of the Shake It Up Café! ..MORE |

In the spirit of the season, it would be remiss to not include a musical act of a holiday flavor. In small town Childersburg Alabama, a grand musical took place. There were lights, stage, and personality flares used in portraying characters surrounded by song. Those involved were young kids. Some of which over came fears to play a part, but nonetheless sang a joyful noise. The musical was titled, ”The Light Before Christmas”. By a cast of eleven, the kids of Saint Andrews UMC and Oak Grove UMC were telling a story that included 7 songs. That story, as you already know, is a story of Christmas. The musical takes place in a classroom where the kids are explaining what makes Christmas. Well, one super smart kid, Beaker, breaks it down to the molecular level. As each Scene changes, a new song finishes the act. ..MORE
