Storm survivors need help in the Cullman area. There are a number of homes that need to be re-tarped while awaiting repairs to their homes. Assistance can also be used to remove damaged sheet rock from inside these homes that got wet and moldy as the tarps have leaked. This doesn't require a lot of skill, just a big heart! Please contact Lori Feist at (205) 226-7909, or alumcvolunteer@gmail.com, if you are in the North Alabama Conference area and would like to help.
We are now scheduling teams into 2012, especially for January and February! Many of our sites in northwest, northnortheast Alabama are desperate for volunteer teams and ready to begin construction of new homes, but are short of help. Visit our website at www.rebuildnorthalabama.org and click on "Register Your Team" for more information and to read the Team Guidebook. Our sites can accomodate teams from 5 to 50 and our facilities are equipped with kitchens and showers.
Are you a member of a local North Alabama Conference churches and interested in a shower trailer project to donate to the North Alabama Conference for use in April Storm Recovery and future disasters? We have a materials list and a plan passed onto us from a partner church and are in need of approximately 3-5 trailers to comfortably support our churches that house volunteer teams. If you would like to coordinate a shower trailer project with your church or volunteer group to donate to the North Alabama Conference, contact Emily Nelms at (205) 226-7980, or enelms@northalabamaumc.org.
Our supply of Cleaning Buckets (formerly called "Flood Buckets") is low in the Disaster Warehouse, and we need help in preparing the Conference in case of disaster. To create your own Cleaning Bucket, please click here for more information and for drop-off information once completed.
The Decatur Disaster Warehouse is now collecting the following for April storm survivors: Winter jackets for men and women, sweaters for men and women, new insulated underwear for both men and women, table-top artificial Christmas trees (please, no large trees) and Christmas decorations. For more information, contact the Disaster Warehouse at (256) 341-9961.
