Wesleyan Leadership Conference is for pastors and lay leaders who are interested in developing disciple-making communities centered in the work of Jesus Christ in the world. The conference will look at how to help recover what it means to be Christian and Methodist in the 21st century.
At the Wesleyan Leadership Conference you will explore the vision, message, and method that helped John Wesley lead a revival among the People called Methodists. You will learn how the same vision, message, and method will bring revival in the church today.

Discipleship happens best in small groups. The real spiritual growth that helps people become more like Jesus happens day by day, life on life, in the communities we call small groups. But discipleship is messy, can be complicated, and is just plain hard work. Most of us would like to launch healthy new groups with inspiring and competent leaders... or bring needed change to our existing small groups. But our reality is challenging: we've run out of ideas, hit a wall, or perhaps dont even know how to begin. What can we do? Group Life South is a training/networking/motivating conference just for you. We're close (if you live in the southeast US), convenient (one Saturday morning), and cheap. You'll hear from four nationally known small group experts who have wrestled with the same challenges you now face. You'll sit in the same room with these practitioners and your peers from across town and across the region, asking tough questions and getting the answers you need.

Gathering of Orders 5K Run and Lake Walk
Tuesday, October 18, 7AM
Camp Sumatanga
Registration fee $10
The Gathering of Orders is a time for us to take a break from the business and demands of church work to fellowship with each other and care for ourselves. Part of that self-care is our physical health. This year at the Orders Gathering, we are inviting everyone to participate in either the 5K run or lake walk. This walk and run is an opportunity not only to focus on our health, but to support the mission work of our conference. All money raised will benefit the Mission 2 Gather organizations (www.mission2gather.com). Ask people in your congregation to sponsor you. If you raise $100 or more, you will get a gift card to Cokesbury for 10% of what you raise. So, let’s get healthy and support our mission work at the same time.

Attending a Growing Healthy Churches Discovery Center is the first step Congregational Development takes in the process of considering a pastor to be a candidate for planting a church.
Primarily, Discovery Centers strive to help leaders discover if the lead position in a church plant is a good fit for their next step of ministry. While some training is included, it is not a conference or seminar. The Discovery Center is designed to help leaders discern the best fit for their next step in ministry. Wade Langer, Tuscaloosa church planter and recent attendee of the Discovery Center said, "Aside from initially hearing God's call, there has been no greater process for discerning God's plan in my life than the Discovery Center. Uniquely blending an assessment of my personality with a testing of my abilities in real-world scenarios allowed me to realize who God had always known me to be. This one week at the Discovery Center changed the entire course of my ministry. As a result, I couldn't be more confident that God truly has called me to plant a new congregation."
Discovery Centers are also designed for the campus pastor. "The Discovery Center helped me and my wife discern my calling as a campus pastor. It was challenging, refreshing and very affirming. I would highly recommend the Discovery Center to anybody who is considering planting a church or serving as a campus pastor of a new satellite campus." Stephen Hampton, Campus Pastor of Cove Church at Chase.
If you have ever felt the call to plant a church, please consider attending this center. Please contact Lynne Paden, lpaden@northalabamaumc.org, for more information.
