New Appointments in Southeast District - 2011

The North Alabama Conference recently held the 2011 annual conference. The business of the conference included the appointment of pastors for the coming year.
We extend a special welcome and prayers of support for pastors taking over new pastoral responsibilities. The official move date is June 15th. On Father's Day, twenty churches will have new pastors in their pulpit.
Moving into the Southeast District are: Rev. Ian Conerly, going to Fairfax UMC in the Valley and Rev. Dorothy Ann Webster going to Lineville/Oak Grove Charge. Taking pastoral within the district are Jacob Wilkerson, appointed to Bear Creek UMC, Barry Milliner appointed to Burke's Chapel UMC, Shirley Meddick to Lowell UMC and Jimmy Yates to Midway (Wedowee) UMC. Tom Williams officially takes over the pastoral role at Stephen Mission. Moving from churches within and to churches in the Southeast District are Rev. Tommie Finley from Mt. Pleasant/Mt. Lebanon charge to Sardis UMC, Rev. Ed Grooms from Lowell UMC to Bethlehem Campground, Belinda Rives from Powell Chapel/Sardis to Bethany/Bradford Charge, and Rick Talley from Lineville/Oak Grove to Hopewell/Oak Bowery Charge. Moving to reconfigured charges are Rev. Bridget Dowdy from Trinity/Parkdale to Trinity/Kellyton First and Rev. Clarence Foster from Union Chapel/Mt. Lebanon to Mt. Lebanon/Mt. Pleasant/Mt. Zion Charge. We are excited that a number of pastors are taking on added responsibility to help the Conference grow effective churches: Rev. Shirleen Harvey, pastor of Bethlehem (Lineville) will serve the new Bethlehem/Pleasant Grove Charge, Rev. Bob Owens of Wesley Chapel will serve Wesley Chapel/Parkdale Charge, Rev. Lynn Peters of Comer UMC will serve Comer/Friendship charge and Dr. Randy Kelley of Goodsell UMC will serve Goodsell/Powell Chapel Charge. Rev. Hunter Vardaman moves to full time status by becoming Associate Pastor for Music Ministry at Alex City First and senior pastor of Waverly First UMC. Rev. Mike Jackson becomes the Associate Pastor for Evangelism at Flint Hill UMC. Bishop Willimon and Cabinet are confident that all these pastors as well as those keeping their appointment for another year will serve the kingdom of God in the mission of reaching new people for Jesus. We are excited that these pastors will be in the business of "Reaching One for Jesus," leading new people to discipleship in Christ and growing generous Christian for the mission and ministries of the Christ's church.
