More than 165 youth and young adults attended the 3rd Annual Youth Showcase held at Hopewell United Methodist Church on March 25, 2011. The Showcase is an interdenominational worship service for area youth.

The theme of this year’s showcase, Colossians 3:16 – 17, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him”, provided the spiritual encouragement for the youth from attending churches to share songs, skits, human videos, praise and worship music and songs. Fellowship and food were abundant as the youth enjoyed the evening’s happenings.

Daniel Beckworth, youth minister from Union Grove Baptist Church, was the speaker for the event. His message, The End of Me, based on Luke 15:11-24, centered on the story of the prodigal son.

Youth groups attending were from Union Grove Baptist Church, Refuge Point, Journey Church, Happy Valley Baptist Church, Lanett Methodist Church, Beulah Baptist Church, Pine Grove United Methodist Church, and Hopewell United Methodist Church. Students, who see each other every day at school and sporting events, while shopping or working, were able on that night to share a time of worship and a common love of God.

Hopewell United Methodist Church is located south of Valley, Alabama. Albert Smith is the pastor.
