Flint Hill Honors Local Teachers and Staff and Begins Other New Outreach Ministries

On Monday, August 13^th, volunteers from Flint Hill in Alex City honored the teachers and staff from Stephen’s Elementary by providing a nice meal. Ladies from the church worked to set up tables, decorated and made the meal in an effort to show the teachers and staff how much they are appreciated. Knowing that many teachers have to buy supplies for their own students, members of Flint Hill donated two truck loads of supplies to the school. Kim Smith, principal of the school, told the church that this was the first time anyone had ever done something like this for the staff and that this act of love was greatly appreciated. 

This is the second year that Flint Hill has held a teacher-staff appreciation day. Last year they did the same for another local elementary school and supplied for their needs. Pastor Dee Dowdy said that he is very proud of the group that helped to make this ministry a reality. He noted, “I think this is yet another way that Flint Hill is reaching outside the walls of the building to ‘be the church.’ Already this year, the people of the church have set up a free hot dog stand at our local crisis center so that people coming to the center can have a free meal. Also, beginning the last Sunday of this month, we will begin a free Sunday morning breakfast in order to share the love of Jesus with our community. Furthermore, we resume our free tutoring program in September to help children to succeed in school.”
