The Southeast District welcomes pastors newly assigned to churches in the District. These pastors were appointed by Bishop William H. Willimon at the 2012 Annual Conference of the North Alabama Conference. It is our prayer that their ministry in the newly assigned churches will bear much fruit for the kingdom of our Lord.
On July 7, 2012, the Southeast District Program and Planning Leadership Team and the United Methodist Women of the Southeast District will welcome the pastors and their families as they transition to new places of ministry. The Welcome brunch will be held at Trinity UMC in Alexander City.
District Superintendent Stryker expressed excitement in the opportunity to work with these pastors that are moving into new places of ministry. He also expressed appreciation for the pastors that continuing in their previous assignments.
We pray God’s blessing upon those leaving the Southeast District to serve in other districts in North Alabama and upon those persons retiring from active ministry. Their work among us has been a blessing.
On "Moving Day," June 13th, the new pastors officially took over the pastoral leadership responsibilities at their assigned locations.
Moved into the Southeast District: Rev. Howard Johnson appointed to Ava UMC, Rev. Lori Carden to Childersburg First UMC, Rev. Thom Porter to Duncan Memorial/Sunny Level UMC, Dr. Paul Hillard to St. Thomas/Haven Memorial UMC and, Rev. Carolyn Hillard appointed associate pastor of St. Thomas/Haven Memorial UMC.
The following pastors moved from churches within the Southeast District: Rev. Bill Boggan to Andrews Chapel/Rockford UMC from Wadley/Almond, Rev. Ralph Barrow to Roanoke First from Childersburg First and Rev. Disney Weaver to Wadley First from Shady Grove (Ashland).
Pastors appointment from within the Southeast District: Rev. Clinton Branch, appointed to Almond UMC, Rev. Jacquelyn Cumberlander appointed to Bethena/Mt. Carmel UMC, Rev. Jonathan Herston to Hopewell UMC, Rev. Bill Parker to Oak Bowery, Rev. Carolyn Goza to Shady Grove (Ashland) and Rev. Janice Clark to Union Chapel UMC.
We are grateful that Rev. Robertson and Rev. Cooper, although retired, are taking on added ministry responsibilities. Rev. Jim Robertson at New Home will serve the New Home/Corinth charge and Rev. Alfred Cooper at Jones Chapel will serve the Shady Grove (Hanover)/Jones Chapel charge.
Bishop Willimon and Cabinet are excited about the joint ministry between pastors and the laity as we begin another conference year.
