Langdale UMC Holds Celebration of Women Service
On Sunday, April 15, Langdale United Methodist Church held worship services that “Celebrated the Ministry of Women.” Several women of the church designed and participated in the services that told the story of “women of the Cross.” In both the contemporary and traditional worship services, women led in all the areas of worship. The services were highlighted when eight women told their story and how it related to Jesus. We heard from Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist, Young Mary and Mature Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Mary of Bethany, Martha of Bethany, Salome the mother of James and John, and Pilate’s Wife. Special music is always part of special services like this and these services were no exception. Women made up the choirs in both services and offered special music related to the day’s theme. Many commented that the services were informative and inspiring. Women play such an important role in the ministry of Langdale UMC. Langdale offers other women’s events during the year including a Women’s Retreat held this past January at Callaway Gardens Retreat Center and attended by 104 women. |
