As I was pondering what to write about the North Alabama Conference’s response to disaster recovery from the April 27, 2011, storms, the words of this song came flooding into my thoughts. It is such a powerful way of thinking about how to endure the storms of life—both literal and figurative ones. Early in recovery, it was hard to sing in the midst of such devastation and need. But as volunteers began to flood to our state, as clergy and lay people in the Districts began to volunteer to serve on our District Disaster Recovery Teams, I began to sing a bit.
